Spent:

“Spent” is a term used in commercial kitchens to refer to an ingredient which has been fully used up. Meat is cut from a bone, the bone is boiled to create a stock, and whatever is left of the bone is “spent”. It signifies the end of something as an effect of its usefulness. In this series, I photograph spent ingredients before disposal. I try to squeeze out any remaining life in these ingredients, making them useful one last time through their aesthetic beauty, freezing them in their last moments through the photograph.
